LStar Management is a privately held real estate investment firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Founded in late 2007 during the initial phase of the most recent real estate crisis, LStar was created to respond to the investment opportunities created by the real estate market downturn. Since 2010, with our partners, we have acquired or control assets from 27 banks and bond companies worth $400 million. We have raised over $300 million of equity and have co-investment partnerships with some of the nation’s leading financial institutions. LStar has invested in many asset classes, including residential and commercial land, golf, senior housing, and mixed-use.
While LStar’s roots are in the residential real estate markets, our investment discipline is consistent across all asset classes. The firm generates attractive risk-adjusted returns and we have
demonstrated our investing discipline through the acquisition of bank debt and bonds on more than 18,000 housing units in 11 states.
LStar has established itself as a firm that is able to quickly underwrite, structure and close complex real estate transactions. We utilize our real estate and investment expertise to make well-timed acquisitions, and we leverage our in-house asset management teams to maximize the value of our assets during the disposition period.
We treat investor capital as our own and we invest in every transaction we manage. We align our interests with those of our investors and do not take acquisition fees. We always return investor capital and preferred return before participating in the upside. We also bring significant “value-add” to our partnerships as we provide nearly every major management discipline in-house.
