Lancaster County Community Gets Makeover from New Owner
INDIAN LAND, SC – December 13, 2011 – Since ELA (Edenmoor Land Acquisition) closed on the property on October 28, Edenmoor has been undergoing extensive improvements. In addition to fixing the roads and stabilizing the community, Edenmoor is getting a new name to go along with its new look. Announced this morning during the ribbon cutting and dedication of Lancaster County EMS Station No. 8, the community once known as Edenmoor will now be known as Walnut Creek.
“Presenting the keys to the EMS Station to Lancaster County marks a turning point for this community,” said Jon Schotz of ELA. “This is the perfect time to announce the new name for this community. From this day forward Edenmoor shall be known as Walnut Creek. We are redefining what this community can be; both in the implementation of much needed improvements and a new marketing campaign that will reinvigorate the community.“
In August, ELA entered into a contract to purchase the Edenmoor subdivision from the Lancaster County Forfeited Land Commission (FLC). ELA worked closely with County officials to create a plan that addressed the short and long term needs of the community. That collaborative plan began immediately after the closing with site work improvements in Phase 1 where the residents were living, and in Phase 2 where the park was partially complete. ”We reviewed the history of the area, identified the creeks crossing through the property and investigated the indigenous flora and fauna,” said Schotz. “The name Walnut Creek is a reference to the Black Walnut trees on the property, as well as the extraordinary creek that bisects the site.”
Edenmoor Land Acquisition, LLC (ELA) is a partnership between Saybrook's Municipal Opportunity Fund IV (Saybrook), a Santa Monica, California-based investment group and LStar Management, LLC, a real estate investment firm based in Raleigh, N.C.
